  • How We Can All Make The World A Better Place

    Injustice hides behind every corner.

    We give it different names depending on the imbalance it creates – racism, homophobia, transphobia, speciesism – but the premise is always the same.

    A lack of willingness to understand and empathise, thinking that our own feelings of self-importance are always the most urgent to protect, for fear of what our identity and role in the world might dissolve to without them.

    I need to be better at this. We all do.

    The blame game will keep us the same. What need is there to change and face our fears of being vulnerable, when there is someone else to focus on instead? Personally, I think (because I believe in rhymes) that our blame comes from our shame, and that we project to avoid facing all of the things that we’ve done wrong ourselves in the past.

    If we let people in, we ease ourselves out of the comfortable coma that we slept in when our hearts were closed.

    I wish we could undo our conditioning and I wish we could restore the world to an original equilibrium, but we are in the middle now. We’re halfway between a perfect beginning and a perfect ending.

    The only way to go next is forward, and here’s how…


    ⋆☽ Educate and Understand ☾⋆


    To learn is to live; and it’s how we’ll finally understand how to truly love without exception.

    Exposure to learning resources, such as documentaries and books, and new situations is what keeps our outlook open and our minds hungry for something new. When we challenge ourselves to travel, mix with new people, watch confronting videos, learn about topics no-one else around us is interested in – we allow ourselves to expand and start moving in a new direction.

    An ever-growing mind leaves the past behind.

    Action points that we can do:

    • Buy and borrow books on the topics that we haven’t touched on yet, or don’t know much about – but feel like we should
    • Watch hard-hitting documentaries that expose uncomfortable truths, like: Earthlings, 13th, The Central Park Five, and Fahrenheit 11/9

    ⋆☽ Explore New Situations With An Open Mind ☾⋆


    It’s so easy to stay the same when everything around us stays the same.

    Being bold and brave by moving into the unknown and challenging our boundaries is how we can soften the corners of our mind. This is not easy.

    It means going to talk to people at parties that you wouldn’t normally mix with, when you could easily just stay in your own social group – and no-one would judge or call you out on it.

    It means saying YES to new opportunities when it’s easier to say NO, and vice-versa for the old habits and routines which are recycling your time and energy over and over again.

    It means travelling to new countries and continents so that you can immerse yourself in the different cultures and customs, even when it’s cheaper and more convenient to stay within the realms of the resort.

    A willingness to explore is a willingness to know more.

    Action points that we can do:

    • Venture into new groups, social events, organised meet-ups and cultures
    • Challenge ourselves to see things and people from another perspective; especially when it comes to our age-old beliefs and opinions that we feel like we’ve held forever – without knowing why…

    ⋆☽ Heal Yourself, To Inflict Less Damage On Others ☾⋆


    We’ve all heard the old adage “hurt people hurt people” and in a lot of cases it proves to be true. By closing our hearts to hide our own scars, we lose touch with our highest potential for empathy: being prepared to feel the pain and suffering of others too.

    Doing the self-work and focusing on our own healing process is how we can gradually become the best version of ourselves. A reluctance to heal is how people stay the same, and how we’ll always stay in the same cycles and patterns without moving forward.

    When we don’t feel powerful in ourselves, we don’t feel powerful enough to create change.

    By building our belief in ourselves and our own ability, while reconciling our old wounds and disappointments to increase our capacity for love, we can partake in active empathy – feeling the injustice palpably enough to DO something about it.

    Action points that we can do:

    • Invest in the professional help that we need, but perhaps have been avoiding; whether it’s a counsellor, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist or reiki healer.
    • Discovering ourselves and our limits through personal development (ie, meditation, courses, workshops, reading self-help books)

    ⋆☽ Accept Change, Instead Of Resisting It ☾⋆


    When we want things to stay the same, they do.

    If the situation we’re in is beneficial enough, our primitive brain will fight to keep us in it – so that it can rest assured that we’re going to stay safe, fed, and alive and kicking. Our brain has not caught up with us yet, and it’s in no way modern; we’re trying to move forward here – so what can we do?

    We can feel the fear but embrace change anyway.

    This is a long-term investment and a way of life that we need to get into, rather than a one time event. Getting used to the discomfort of change is like wearing in a new pair of shoes. It gets better over time, provided you think it’s worth it.

    Without change, life is boring – but comfortable. Sacrifice comfort for a future that has the potential to be better than the past.

    Action points that we can do:

    • Have an annual/monthly/weekly/daily review of what is and isn’t working, and what could or should change; different actions will birth different results
    • Look for role models who are challenging the norm and achieving incredible things; having someone to look up to gives us somewhere to aim

    ⋆☽ Forgive Yourself, And Forgive Others ☾⋆


    There are so many low vibration energies and demons which can be exorcised using the elixir of life that is forgiveness.

    Being willing to truly forgive is being willing to truly move forward.

    I wrote a whole post called 8 Reasons To Forgive The Person Who Hurt You The Most and it’s one of my most read blogs of all time. My biggest takeaway from my Christian upbringing is Jesus’ message of forgiveness, and I try to refer back to it as often as possible.

    Forgiveness is freedom, and like anything else which is worthwhile – it comes with a caveat that it won’t always be easy.

    If we can forgive ourselves, we can move forward. If we can forgive other people, we can move forward. Moving forward is the only way that we won’t stay stuck in the present or the past.

    Action points that we can do:

    • Research the Hawaiian practice of Hoʻoponopono and Jesus’ teachings about forgiveness
    • Be willing to cry, journal, scream, and whatever else it takes to move stagnant emotions so that they can finally be released with forgiveness

    As a tiny part of a large, collective whole, we all have a contribution to make through the way that we act, think and behave towards ourselves and others.

    By being willing to be better, we can do better – and we can make the world a better place. How can we start today to create a better tomorrow?

  • What Is Your Saturn Return And How Will It Affect You?

    Most people have heard of the phrase “Saturn Return” because it’s well-known in pop culture for being a time of big (sometimes unwelcome) transformation. 30 is a point in our timeline that’s laden with expectation, whether it’s to be a millionaire by then; to be married by then; to have a house by then; or to be in your final career by then…

    This point on our timeline is widely thought of as pivotal for some reason – and I believe that it’s partly due to the unspoken influence of our Saturn Return happening at the same time.

    If you’ve heard of the phrase and you’re curious to know more about it, this one is for you.

    Your Saturn Return is when Saturn goes back to the exact same point in the sky as when you were born. This usually happens between the ages of 28 and 30, but you can calculate exactly when yours starts and finishes through an online calculator like this one 🪐

    As it takes roughly 29.5 years for Saturn to do a transit around our natal chart, we’ll actually have 2 or 3 Saturn returns over a full lifetime. We’ll experience another one around the age of 57, and then the same again around the age of 86.

    So, why does it have such a fearsome reputation…?

    Saturn is a planet of responsibility and restrictions. It governs our boundaries and fears, and it’s thought to teach us about these parts of ourselves via adversity.

    This means that when our Saturn Return takes place, it promises to clear away any illusions that we’ve been living under. Namely, any areas of our life which are out of alignment, but that we’re still comfortably uncomfortable in. I always say that rock bottom is a good place to be because actually, the worst thing we can be is comfortably uncomfortable.

    When something is just “OK” but not great, we could sit with it forever and waste years of our life. It’s better for something to be so uncomfortable that we feel like we need something better, instead of losing a lifetime to missed opportunities.

    That’s why it has a bad reputation: because of its ability to shake up our life. But, actually (like the rest of the Universe) it’s always working in our favour!

    It puts a question mark over any relationships not working for us. It will bring our career crashing down if it’s something that we’re doing for the wrong reasons. Think of Saturn as “old Father Time. It will ring the bell when time is up on the things which aren’t serving you.

    We should all actually be grateful for our Saturn Return because once it’s done, we’re in a much better position. It reminds me of The Tower Tarot card which delivers the same message; that the structures of our life are going to come crashing down if they were built on a shaky foundation, such as fear and ego.

    That is exactly what our Saturn Return does for us. It wipes away any structures in our life which are there for the wrong reasons, if they’re going to stand in the way of our soul’s progression.

    This awakening primes us for the next 29 years of our life – to make them even more fulfilling, even more prosperous, and even more aligned with who we truly are.

    Your Saturn Return will affect you differently depending on what star sign your Saturn is in…

    If your Saturn is in a fixed sign such as Taurus or Scorpio, you may have a more challenging time compared to if it’s in a mutable sign such as Gemini or Pisces, because the mutable signs are said to be more adaptable and open to change. You might also feel the experience of your Saturn Return more intensely if it’s in an Earth sign rather than an Air sign, for the same reasons.

    The star sign your Saturn is in will define:

    • what approach you have to facing your fears
    • how you’re inclined to set boundaries
    • what limits you might struggle against in your life

    It asks you to think about your approach to discipline – are you for or against it, and why?

    When you go through your Saturn Return, it will also affect you differently depending on the decisions you’ve made over the last cycle. If you’re already on the right path, with the right partner, aligned with your life purpose – then it promises to be a fruitful time!

    This is the side of a Saturn Return that no-one talks about.

    It can be a time of confirmation and elevation, where the groundwork that you’ve been busy laying is solidified. If there’s no work for Saturn to do in changing your path, it can affirm your path instead – giving you signs of real growth and potential for the future.

    During a difficult Saturn Return, it may seem like Saturn wants to lead you away from your life – but actually it wants to lead you into it…

    Saturn has been associated with karma, and your Saturn Return can be a time to harvest the rewards of what you’ve done so far.

    You might feel like you’re supposed to be afraid of your Saturn Return, but you don’t have to be. As I said, it’s for your own good. It can just be a beautiful time of confirmation which will propel you further down your current path.

    Or – if you’ve been ignoring your intuition for years – you’ll finally be forced to open your eyes. What changes have you been avoiding making? Your Saturn Return aligns you by giving you the lessons that you need most. Use this time in your life for reflection on what’s worked and what hasn’t, so that you can take them with you and make better decisions in the future.

    Know that, once it’s over, the next 29 years of your life will be on a higher level than your last.

    You’ll be more aligned with your truth, your purpose, and what you’re really here for.

  • What It’s Like Getting Your Reiki Attunement

    I didn’t know this was coming when I had my Reiki attunement, so I want to let you know what to expect.

    I’m 9 days in to my homework of self-clearing for 21 days after my Level 1 certification in March, but the first “official” attunement was administered on the day. Everyone who goes through their Reiki training will receive an attunement from their teacher.

    Attunement is literally your energy body being fine-tuned so that it can become an appropriate channel for healing Reiki energy. It raises your vibration and, in the process, will shake any low vibrations loose if they’re lingering in your energy field.

    All of the effects I’m about to talk about are a manifestation of this energy being awakened, moved, and shifting out of your etheric system.

    My experience of Reiki training and attunement was a bit different because it was during COVID quarantine, so it happened over Zoom. Fortunately, energy doesn’t recognise time, space or any of our other human constructs – so it still worked. And I know that it definitely did work because it’s been confirmed by all of these physical symptoms I’ve had since.

    That’s why my Reiki Master said that the Level 1 self-healing is so important to go through before becoming a certified Reiki Practitioner at Level 2. Without it, you might not truly understand or believe in the healing potential of Reiki energy.

    The daily clearings continue to amplify my energy. 40 minutes a day is a big time commitment which frustrates me sometimes, but as she recommended – I do it every morning so that I can fly high for the rest of the day. I put my headphones on and listen to a meditation that guides me through a process of clearing each chakra and then filling up the empty spaces with white light.

    Even though some people will only get the initial energy download from their Reiki Master, I count all of this as my ongoing Reiki attunement experience. Here are some of the weird and wonderful things that have happened since…

    Oh my, the headaches!

    When I think about the side effects of Reiki attunement – this has been the biggest one for me. However, when I tried to Google for information about Reiki attunement headaches, I couldn’t find anything online. That’s when I knew I had to write about my experience so that other Reiki headache sufferers would know they’re not alone!

    After the initial attunement, my Reiki Master asked us what we experienced. I said I had an intense headache at the centre of my forehead; around my third eye. As an amazing clairvoyant herself, she said it’s due to energy clearing from there which will soon make me more clairvoyant.

    So, don’t be surprised if you get headaches. I also shared on my Instagram Stories that I had an enormous migraine on day 5 of the self-healing, and they aren’t something that I ever have normally – I knew it was from the Reiki.

    To summarise the headaches, I’d say that while they’re very annoying, it’s also good to know that old trapped energy is working its way out of my third eye and soon I’ll be able to see better. If you’ve experienced headaches after Reiki too, let me know in the comments!

    Small things that I want will now instantly appear, as quickly as the same day. My friend told me that she had a free coaching session so I thought “that would be nice”, and within a few hours I had a random coach offering me a free session in my Instagram Message Requests.

    I also settled on the style of artwork I want for making my own Oracle Card deck, and then a random artist on Instagram who a) doesn’t even follow me and b) I don’t follow her, tagged me in one of her posts. It was a piece of artwork that she’d painted of the moon, and after scrolling through her page, she was the perfect artist I’d imagined for my deck.

    This is truly the most magical side effect.

    When your energy is clear, you’ll remove any barriers which have been stopping you from receiving what you want.

    This has only happened during the actual clearing sessions, rather than afterwards like the others.

    Cleared energy loves coming out in yawns. They’re not sleepy yawns though, it’s more like a lion’s breath in yoga. Feeling a compulsion to do this is a random but real sign that energy is moving out of you.

    Beliefs and experiences can live forever in your energy field. This means that when you’re having an energetic clear out, they may rise to the top of your awareness.

    You might see flashbacks from previous years or even past lives. Trust that this is happening because the memories are being dislodged and your energy doesn’t need to hold on to them anymore. Most of the time, we don’t even realise that we’re holding on to them.

    Anything which triggers a strong enough emotional response can leave an energetic scar. The Reiki attunement will heal that scar, and then you can choose to fill the spaces with white light instead.

    You can expect to generally feel very drained after your Reiki attunement.

    Clearing out old energy is tiring work, and as I said earlier, this can include sifting through emotionally draining memories. Make sure that you give yourself a few days to restore your energy after this process.

    It’s so normal to feel drained, tired, sleepy and lethargic after your Reiki attunement. Once your energy finishes upgrading, you’ll be a clear conduit, capable of reaching the highest vibration energies.

  • How To Clear Your Solar Plexus Chakra

    Firstly, how do you know if you need to clear your solar plexus chakra?

    • You had a strict upbringing where your needs were ignored and you felt powerless
    • You were bullied and it made you lose confidence in yourself
    • You have issues with emotional eating; either over or under eating in response to emotional situations
    • You often feel like you lack power and confidence, ie, you have low self-esteem
    • You’re a frustrated people pleaser
    • You struggle to set boundaries with other people and with yourself, eg, spending, drinking or working too much
    • You have digestive issues such as IBS, food allergies or stomach ulcers
    • You have addictive tendencies because you’re giving too much of your power away to something external
    • Also, having a BIG ego which manifests as being dominant, manipulative and behaving like a bully is also a sign of an out-of-balance solar plexus chakra

    It’s possible to find balance again, and a solar plexus that’s in energetic harmony will allow you to leave self-doubt behind and feel confident in your own abilities.

    It will give you an energy boost, and help you to create success once you feel worthy of it on the inside. Your confidence will then inspire other people to have confidence in you and what you’re offering.

    Most importantly, you’ll know that you get to create your circumstances and choose how you respond.

    Solar Plexus-2

    Never underestimate the power of the people you’re with.

    This is never more true than if you’re an empath or spiritually sensitive person – you’ll naturally soak in everyone else’s energy without even realising.

    Look at the people who are in your life. Do they feel empowered? Do they have good self-esteem? Do they have a balanced solar plexus chakra?

    Often we can mirror the behaviour of people around us and stay small to try and fit in. This is no good for the solar plexus chakra. The first step if you want to enjoy a strong, harmonious and balanced solar plexus chakra is to align yourself with relationships that allow you to express yourself as the greatest version of you. It’s not cool to have low self-esteem, and you don’t need to put yourself down to fit in.

    Find people who raise you up and give you a safe space to shine as the brightest version of you.

    Solar Plexus-3Anger can stick in the solar plexus chakra like a toxic glue.

    People who are quick to anger have an overactive solar plexus, and they’re giving their power away too easily when other people can invoke such a strong emotional response.

    Equally, if you don’t feel safe expressing any anger and you people please just to avoid conflict, it’s likely that you have an underactive solar plexus.

    Louise Hay famously tells her story of how she had to release old anger from childhood sexual abuse to eliminate cervical cancer, which she saw as a manifestation of this trapped trauma. Research how you can release your own anger – either on your own or with a professional counsellor.

    The anger could be trapped in your solar plexus and causing an imbalance. Setting it free will allow energy to flow through again, bringing it back into balance.

    Solar Plexus-4

    Watching what you eat is extra important if you’re spiritually sensitive.

    Food is just another kind of energy and you’re putting it directly into your body, at the centre of all your energy fields. Colours are associated with all of the chakras, and the colour yellow is associated with your solar plexus.

    Therefore, it’s said that this chakra appreciates healthy and nutritious yellow foods. Such as: 🍋 Lemons 🍋 Bananas 🍋 Sweetcorn 🍋 Pineapple 🍋 Turmeric 🍋 Lentils

    Eating foods that you can digest more easily (eg, gluten-free and without dairy) is an easy way to find relief from any physical symptoms of imbalance in this chakra. Your food gives you energy and you want your food to support all of the power that you have available in this chakra.

    Eat foods that will enable you to flourish by being nourished.

    Solar Plexus-5Similar to foods, the solar plexus also appreciates yellow crystals.

    Often, Reiki therapists will place crystals down the chakras of the client they’re working on. These crystals will match the colour of each chakra.

    You can place yellow crystals on your solar plexus chakra when you’re lying down, meditate, and visualise the yellow energy centre around your stomach swirling freely. Imagine that it’s completely open to energy flowing through it and out of it.

    You can use: 💛 Amber 💛 Citrine 💛 Tigers Eye 💛 Yellow Calcite 💛 Yellow Topaz

    Crystals are great energy amplifiers and they can also soak in any toxic energy from your solar plexus. For this reason, it’s very important that you regularly cleanse your crystals to release any old energy they’ve soaked in.

    Solar Plexus-6

    You can use affirmations to inspire movement in all of your chakras – for your solar plexus, choose affirmations that remind you of your power to get the energy moving again.

    You can 1) write them down every morning, 2) say them in your mind, or 3) say them out loud to yourself when you’re on your own (such as in the shower or driving). Imagine these high vibration words going into your chakra and feel them to be true from your gut, which is where your solar plexus is.

    This is your centre of personal truth, and what you believe about yourself is held in there.

    Know with 100% faith that these affirmations are true and reflective of you. Affirmations for your solar plexus could include:

    • I am strong and immensely powerful just by being me
    • There’s nothing that anyone can ever do to take away my light
    • I create my own life and I can create it however I want

    One of my favourite affirmations which I always use is:

    • I get to have fun, be free, and be me; and as a result, I get to live in an endless state of abundance

    Try these or think of some new affirmations which will restore positive self-belief into your energy centre.

    Solar Plexus-7

    When you feel restricted, it manifests as blocked energy in your chakras which then restricts your manifesting.

    Freedom is what your soul wants for you most of all.

    When you don’t allow yourself to be free, you’re encouraging your solar plexus to stay small and you’re hiding from your light.

    Allowing yourself to be free is done in small steps, such as:

    • Choosing not to be a victim
    • Laughing at yourself when you do things wrong, instead of criticising yourself
    • Being spontaneous because you’re not fearfully controlling every outcome

    Prioritising freedom also means being someone who isn’t overly attached. This includes being attached to outcomes, things, ideas, views, and people.

    When you aren’t attached, you’re free to adapt. But when you’re too attached, you get stuck and your energy does too.

    You allow energy to flow properly through this centre again when you’re happy in the moment and you don’t need to be in control.

    Allow yourself to shine, everything will be fine.

    Remember that your energy feels best when it’s fluid, light and free to fully express what your soul wants for you.

    Your energy is yours, so don’t give it away to things that zap you of your power and make you feel unable to change. You are able to change, and become better.
