I used to think I was poor…

I used to think I needed others to be happy…

I used to think exercise wasn’t for me…

But sometimes our story isn’t written by us – we steal paragraphs from our parents, peers and things we watch on TV. We piece it all together to define where we think we can go next, and to paint a picture of ourselves that we can refer to and show others.

As we step into 2019, it is time to remove the limits we have unconsciously placed on ourselves because of old stories which no longer serve us. It is time to quite literally take a pen to paper and decide what we want to achieve this year, as well as how we want to act and be going forwards.

Thinking that our persona is immutable is the biggest barrier we put on our own success. Our essence is infinite, so why do we encase it in walls that we can’t see over? If we spend time sifting through the catalogue of our desires this New Year, then we can start to consider the type of person that would achieve our desired results.

Do they get up at 5AM? Do they leap at any opportunity to share their message on stage? Do they love meeting new people, and feel no anxiety in social situations? We have to become the person that deserves success in order to attain success.

I was blown away by the response to an Instagram post I wrote exactly a month ago (seen here) because it became clear that I wasn’t the only one stuck between two opposing stories I held about myself. Far from it! So many others acknowledged their own self-fulfilling prophecies too and recognised that their creation of reality depended on their own self-defined characteristics.

In getting what you want, you can never be “too much” so this is not the time to hold yourself back. A New Year brings with it the opportunity for magnificent renewal, so decide what you want and who you want to be in 2019 so that you can put your best foot forward and move towards it.

In 2019, our story can be whatever we make it – so make sure that you rewrite and edit yours to prepare you for astonishing success!
